OET Senior

The Senior Outdoor Emergency Transportation (OET) program is a national-level ski & toboggan training program that provides NSP members with the opportunity to improve their knowledge and skills through quality upper-level training and evaluation in a supportive environment. The program culminates in the Senior OET Evaluation.

Senior candidates should be actively training with OET Instructors and Trainer-Evaluators (TEs) at Region clinics, as well as at their home mountain and at Division events.
The Eastern New York Region requires that Senior candidates attend one of the following in the season they plan to participate in the Senior OET Evaluation:

  • At least one ENY Region Toboggan Enhancement Seminar (TES)

  • Both the Moguls-Only TES and the OET Skills - Senior Skiing/Riding events

  • Either the Moguls-Only TES or the OET Skills – Senior skiing/Riding event this season and have attended an ENY Region TES in the preceding season.

At each event, they should advise the lead instructor that they are actively pursuing Senior OET and should obtain specific feedback from a TE on how their skills compare to the Senior standards. Senior candidates who do not attend an ENY Region TES must obtain approval from the OET Regional Advisor to participate in the Senior OET Evaluation. Our goal is for candidates to be prepared and well-positioned to be successful in the evaluation.

The Eastern NY Region offers a one-day Senior OET Challenge Evaluation format. Candidates must register for the evaluation at least 2 weeks prior to the event by emailing a completed Senior application here to the OET Regional Advisor. The email should include a list of OET clinics the candidate has attended.
